About me.

Hello, I’m Beth Milner… Therapist, meditation teacher, a mother, a dog lover, sky lover & music lover, dreamer, thinker, perpetual question askerer….

I am here as a guide to support others in remembering, cultivating, and living into who they truly are by overcoming the internal and external obstacles that may be obscuring a clearer path. I am certain that we’re all already whole, worthy, and good enough – i.e. you don’t need “fixing” – but sometimes, life and the systems we live in make it hard to remember that truth.

I came to the work of psychotherapy and meditation through my own inner work and process — through addressing my own struggles and discovering and steadily uncovering the false versions of myself I had grown to believe were true. This continues to be a lifelong process, and without doubt, a worthwhile one. With each learning and uncovering I developed a desire to share what I had discovered.

From my own journey I know that we are not meant to navigate the complexity of our inner lives - and outer lives - alone and I believe in the power of community, the therapeutic relationship, and in having others walking this path alongside us. As a former school teacher, my work in the field of healing and personal growth began in teaching meditation, in bringing people together, and I continue to run courses and groups via my business, Geelong Meditation Centre.

We are all capable of our own healing given the right conditions and right approaches. I believe that there is a deep wisdom in us all and that the right questions can lead to the most aligned answers.

The foundation of my work is compassionate presence, offering that to you as a mirror and supporting you in developing your own capacity to be a compassionate and loving presence to yourself.

Magic happens when we pay attention to the little sparks and glimmers of our true self. The self that may be covered up by conditioning, by the difficult events we’ve encountered, and by the many stories we may have been told about ourselves and learnt to believe. There are so many more possibilities for how we might be in the world when we can embrace who we really are and would love to be.

Healing and growing is the most worthwhile work of a lifetime – not only for us, but for everyone. This is why I do this work. The work I feel so grateful to do:

  • I hold space: for those who feel stuck or misunderstood, those in need, for those that want to experience life more deeply and more peacefully, the greater community.

  • I create: offerings such as courses, groups, programs, retreats.

  • I teach: awareness practices such as meditation, mindfulness, self-compassion, cultivating a healthier relationship with ourselves & others, integrating our stories, and how to honour our full, complex, messy and beautiful humanity.

  • I share: my own musings and learnings through the lense of my own life in the hopes it may shine a light on aspects of yours.

  • I never stop learning: as a lifelong student of the human experience my approach to working with clients is ever evolving, exploratory and innovative. I am always attending trainings and workshops to develop and enhance my work.

My formal qualifications include: BA (Hons) Drama, Grad. Dip. Education, Grad. Dip. Psychotherapy, Certificate of Meditation Teaching, Certificate of Addiction Recovery Coaching.

I am registered with the Psychotherapy & Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) and the Meditation Association of Australia.

Values that inform my work.

  • Compassion underpins everything I do. You will be held with unconditional positive regard; a non-judgmental, confidential space where you can be free to express all of who you are.

  • Curiosity is the spirit of enquiry that will support self-discovery and growth. Through remaining curious to the many factors and levels of experience you can learn new ways of being and unlearn the patterns that may no longer be serving you.

  • Creativity enlivens the work of healing. It is possible to work creatively and playfully with the unfolding experience of your inner life. Yes, the issues you are addressing may be profound and painful at times, but it is often a loss of our light-hearted, playful nature that creates our dissatisfaction in life. Let’s reclaim your creative spirit in our work together.

  • Courage supports you to take a deeper look into thoughts, emotions, dreams and behaviours. It takes courage to turn to yourself for the answers and insights that will support you to make meaningful change.

  • Living by one’s values and being honest with others and oneself… even when it is scary, even when it is the harder choice. The commitment to living a good, ethical life.

  • We need each other. People coming together to be witnessed and to learn from one another is medicine. Connecting at a deeper level and leaning into a shared vulnerability breeds compassion. It makes us kinder and it supports our individual and collective journeys.

  • Paying attention is an act of care and respect...and a quiet rebellion. We are living in a fast-paced era where our attention is easily robbed from us by all the many distractions of modern life. Holding another in full presence is a great gift and essential to an effective therapeutic relationship.

  • “All we really want to do is dance” – Joseph Campbell. Isn’t this what everyone would wish for? To be free is to lighten the load of judgment and to play, to create, to be oneself, to be in the flow of one’s life with a sense of awe and wonder.

“Our wounds are often the openings into the best and most beautiful part of us.
